What Audiences are Saying About Us...
On behalf of the Friends of the Asa Waters
Mansion, I would like to express our deep appreciation to the "Heritage"
String Band for your musical contribution to our "Evening with President
Abraham Lincoln" held at the historic Asa Waters Mansion on April 28, 2007. The
wonderful period music and songs you performed added so much to the
historical significance and gaiety of the evening's program, which was
enthusiastically received and appreciated by our guests. Thank you again for
helping us." Dear
Heritage String Band: I happened to be home on leave from the Marine Corps,
and out walking my Golden Retriever Dear Ed: "Please thank the band for a
wonderful performance at the 2003 Brooklyn Fair. We certainly made the right
decision to have the band play all 3 days. Every person we heard from during
and after told us how much they enjoyed your group. It was a pleasure to
watch the audience and see the enjoyment on their faces and see them join in
on some of the songs. Your ability to encompass the history of the Civil War
and the relationship of your music to other events in the growth of our
country is wonderful. It is truly Americana! The Heritage String Band is
just a great group to work with and a pleasure to have on our fair grounds.
Please feel free to have anyone call me and be sure to save our fair dates
for a return in 2004. All the best."
Hi Ed: “Just a note of thanks for the great job
that the “Heritage String Band” did at the John H. Chafee Blackstone River
Valley National Heritage Corridor Commission’s Annual Dinner. The
performance of “In the Valley Where the
Blackstone River Flows” was a great way to end the evening at the
College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA. Thank the band members for me.”
(Band performed this song March 30, 06, written in 1918 and never recorded,
for the very first time in public for this special occasion.) Dear Ed: "The Sturbridge
Recreation Department would like to thank you and your band for their
performance at our 2004 Concert Series. Your presentation was very
pleasurable to our audience, and made for very special musical memories. We
look forward to future engagements. Please pencil us in for 2005. It was a
great pleasure to work with you and your band. Have a great summer Ed. I
hope you are not mad: I told all my friends and contacts about your band!" " "Thank you Ed. It was really a special
evening and your band contributed greatly to making it so. I certainly won't
forget you and would use you again - or recommend you - in an instant!" "Thank you so much for being here today.
Everyone really enjoyed the Heritage String Band. Your presence added
a great deal to the ceremony." [Band performed in Hall of Flags,
Massachusetts State House, December 27, 2001, honoring Clara Barton, famed
Civil War nurse and founder of the American Red Cross, at official ceremony
and plaque unveiling in adjacent Nurse's Hall.] Hi Ed: "Thanks again for a
very enjoyable weekend here at Old Sturbridge Village. I can't begin to tell
you how many complements we received on your band!" Dear Ed: “Thank you for
playing at the Blackstone Valley Chamber’s “Heritage Starlight Celebration.”
The band certainly added a lot to the festivities of the night and we are
glad you had a great time, regardless of the weather. I am looking forward
to having the Heritage String Band bring the same energy and enthusiasm to
our Grand Opening event here at the Whitin Mill in the spring of 2008. On
behalf of everyone here at Alternatives, thanks again for your participation
in the “Heritage Starlight Celebration.” Great music!” Dear Ed, a/k/a Sgt. Papa: "I
want to thank you and the String Band for such a wonderful performance. You
made our fall festival complete. With your help we couldn't be more
proud of our American Heritage." Hi Ed: Just wanted to tell
you how much everybody loved your performance last week. It's funny...this
is your third year and it was like you were never here before...the people
just went wild! It was just wonderful, and I'm still getting remarks about
how much fun it was. You guys just keep getting better every time you come
here. Let's get together so we can book your band again for next year! Dear Ed: "What a pleasant
surprise it was to receive your kind letter! I have shared it with the other
directors. The dining staff was especially glad to hear your praises! Yes.
You have a multitude of fans here at East Bay Manor! The residents and their
friends (which include the staff) just love your music, as you know. We look
forward to you returning in the future. Thank you for the wonderful time you
gave our residents. Until next time, take care." Hi
Sgt. Papa: Thank you for the wonderful concert at the Grafton Common. I have
heard a lot of positive feedback from your show. One of my neighbors, who is
also a doctor at UMass, said he was driving by and decided to stop and
listen. He said he was not sure if he would like this kind of music. Well,
he said he was pleasantly surprised and thrilled. He said he was unaware
that the old tunes from way back were still being played, and so
professionally arranged. He asked me to express his gratitude for a very
wonderful evening.
